Guide for Authors

Authors Guide

Article submission:

All researchers are requested to send a Microsoft Word file of their article via the journal website (eej.aut.ac.ir) in accordance with the manuscript guidelines. The AUT Journal of Electrical Engineering accepts articles written in English. The submitted articles are not accepted if they have been formerly published or under consideration for publication anywhere else. Furthermore the authors of the article are held responsible for the validity of the contents of the article.

Peer review of an article:

Highly acclaimed reviewers assess all the articles. Prompt response of the authors to the corrections and revision requested by the reviewers will result in shorter evaluation time. It is necessary to highlight all the corrections applied to the article in yellow so that the reviewers are able to assess the revised article within the shortest time possible. Please note that the type of review is "Single Blind Peer Review" and reviewers comments are considered highly confidential and the authors will view reviewers comments, questions and requests under the anonymous titles of “reviewer1” and “reviewer2”

The general format of the article:

The size of the pages should be A4. The text should be written in a single column.

The main text:

The article should be written in the format of Microsoft Word and include a minimum of seven pages and a maximum of twenty pages. Each article is divided into various sections as mentioned below:

The title:

The title should include a maximum of fifteen words and determine all the features of the research. Use of abbreviations in the title should be avoided.

The authors’ names:

The authors’ names should be written in one line following the title of the article. In additions, the authors have to mark the corresponding author’s name using an asterisk (*) on top of his/her name in the list of authors. The corresponding author must be a faculty member.

The authors’ personal information:

The authors’ information should include their scientific degree, the name of the faculty and university, city, country. This information should be written in one line for each author and referred to the author mentioning the number.

Abstract:

The abstract should clearly state the topic and the results of the research carried out in a 200 to 250 -word paragraph. In other words, the significance of the subject, the necessity of carrying out this research and a summary of the method and significant results of the research should be stated in the abstract. Including details, tables, illustrations, mathematical equations and if possible referencing should be avoided.

Keywords:

The number of keywords presented at the bottom of the page have to be 5 words.

The introduction:

In this section, primarily the general aspects of the subject should be stated and afterwards a summary of the history of the subject and the studies carried out accompanied by their features (in a way which clarifies the importance of it for the reader.) In the following parts, the innovation and contribution of the research carried out within the borders of science and technology with the purpose of eliminating problems and shortages, finding solutions or progress towards innovative findings, will have to be explained in one or two paragraphs.

Theoretical or experimental modeling:

The main points stated in this section should include the definition of the problem proposed, the necessary notions, the methods of theoretical or experimental modeling and the proposed solutions. If any figures, tables and mathematical equations are used in the article, they should be referred to in the main text of the article.

The results and discussion:

The most important part of a scientific research article is the clear provision of the results achieved. Therefore, it should be vividly illustrated that the developed model has provided accurate results both quantity and quality-wise. It is also necessary to thoroughly discuss the behavior of all the results in different illustrations and tables so that the reader can be reassured of the validity of the research conducted.

Conclusion:

In this section, the important points should be summarized and revised to easily inform the reader about the main results. In this part, the applications of the research conducted can be pointed out and new vague points that demand further research can be proposed or the development of the subject in other areas can be suggested.

Acknowledgements: (if needed)

In this section, the authors may express their appreciation to the supporters of the research who have indirectly contributed to its development.

List of symbols:

This list is located before the list of references and should include English symbols followed by Greek symbols in alphabetical order.

References:

The references may include books, articles from scientific journals, patented inventions, conference articles, theses, technical reports, educational workshops, valid websites and other reliable sources. Referring to unpublished reports, rejected articles and other invalid sources should be avoided. The list of references should be included at the end of the article in English in order of appearance in the text. Therefore, if Persian sources have been used, their information should be translated into English and the term (in Persian) should be written at the end. All the references should be referred to in the main text of the article only by using their number in the reference list in brackets (e.g. [1]) and it is not needed to mention the word “reference” before it (e.g. reference [1]) unless a sentence starts with these words ( e.g. in reference [1] ….). In order to refer to two references or several references with nonconsecutive numbers, authors should use commas. Fore referring to several references with consecutive numbers, they should use a dash (e.g. [1, 2], [12-15], [2, 9, 6] or [1, 3-4]).

It is necessary to use EndNote style of AUT Journal of Electrical Engineering, which is uploaded in the journal website. To install the style in the EndNote, do as follows:

(a) Download the style .

(b) Double-click the style file. It should open in EndNote.

(c) In EndNote, go to “File Menu” and choose “Save As”. Replace the word “copy” with your style's name and click “Save”.

(d) Click on “File Menu” and choose “Close Style”.

The Figures:

The schemata, charts, and images used should all be titled “illustration” and be centered in the text. The figures used in the article should be of acceptable quality. After the peer review process and acceptance of the article, the illustrations should be sent separately with a quality of at least 300 pixels/inch and in the TIFF or JPEG format. The label of each axis in the charts should be mentioned with the measurement unit written in parentheses after it separated by a comma.

The tables:

The contents of the tables should be written in English in the center and if captions are used in the tables, they should be located under the corresponding table. The tables should not be presented in the image format.

Mathematical equations:

MathType is a highly practical tool for writing math equations and all the equations in the article should be written using this editor. The explanation of all the variables, components and new symbols used in the equations (if not explained earlier in the text) should be written immediately after the equation without any gaps. All variables must be typed Italic while their units must be typed as normal.

Measuring units:

The accepted measuring unit is the SI system and if necessary the equivalent in another measuring system may be mentioned in parentheses.
